PMV source finder: find a PMV, or the videos cut into it
Drop a clip of a PMV and the search does two jobs at once. It looks for the PMV itself among 68K PMVs indexed from PMVHaven, and for the full-length videos its scenes were cut from on the tube sites in the index.

PMVs in the index
A PMV is stored as up to about 31 pictures: thumbnails along its whole timeline, its poster and frames cut from its short preview.
Two jobs
Find the PMV, or find what is in it
Which PMV is this? job 1
You have a few seconds of an edit, saved or screen-recorded, and want the whole thing. Frames from your clip are matched against the timeline thumbnails, posters and preview frames of indexed PMVs, and a Match opens the PMV's page on PMVHaven.
Where are these scenes from? job 2
Every scene in a PMV was cut from a longer video. When that video is indexed on a tube site, frames of your clip Match it too, so one search can list the PMV and several full-length sources side by side.
Scene by scene
PMV sauce, one cut at a time
A PMV jumps to a new scene every second or two, on the beat. The search does not need the edit to make sense as a whole. Every frame it picks is looked up separately, and the results are grouped per video, so a frame from the third cut can Match one tube video while a frame from the tenth Matches another.
That is how you find the videos in a PMV: drop a stretch of it and read the results as a list of sources, each with the frame pair that proves it.
Hard frames
Why some PMV scenes will not match
Effects
Flashes, colour grading, zooms and glitch effects change the picture until its keypoints no longer line up. Plain stretches between effects match best.
Overlays and splits
Lyrics, logos and split screens cover the scene. A small caption is fine, but a frame divided into panels leaves little of any one source to compare.
Fast cuts
A frame caught mid-transition mixes two scenes and belongs to neither. Blurred and faded frames are dropped before the search, but very quick edits still leave a few.
The fix is the same for all three: search several moments. A longer clip, or two clips from different parts of the PMV, gives the search more clean frames to work with.
Who is in it
Finding the performers in a PMV
A Match on a full source video gives you its title, which often names who is in it. For scenes with no Match, the face search takes the same clip, lets you pick a face and lists other indexed videos with that face, along with names that keep coming up in their titles.
It is built for performers in published adult videos. Looking someone up from personal photos without their consent is against the terms.
Beyond the search box
Why searching PMVHaven by title will not give you the sources
Searching PMVHaven by words finds a PMV when you know its title, its tags or its editor. A PMV's title names the song, the theme or the creator, rarely the dozens of scenes inside, and few PMVs credit every clip they use. The big image engines do not fill the gap: Lens blurs explicit matches, and none of them is built to search the frames inside PMVs or tube videos.
Found nothing? The PMV may live on another site, or be newer than the index, which is rebuilt twice a day. Its sources can still turn up from the tube sites, so search a few different stretches before giving up.
FAQ
Questions
How do I find the source videos in a PMV?
Drop a clip of the PMV here. Each frame is searched on its own, so frames from different scenes can each Match the full video they were cut from, when that video is indexed. Every source shows up as its own result with its proof.
Can I find a PMV from a short clip of it?
Yes, when the PMV is on PMVHaven and in the index. A few seconds with clean, effect-free frames is often enough, and a longer stretch is better.
What is a PMV?
A porn music video: a fan edit that cuts many short scenes from different videos to the rhythm of a song. PMVHaven is a community site for them.
Is this a PMVHaven search?
Partly. PMVs from PMVHaven are indexed, so a clip can lead to the PMV's page there. The same search also covers the tube sites the original scenes come from.
Why did only some scenes of my PMV match?
Some source videos are not indexed, and some frames are too edited to match: flashes, filters, split screens and transitions. Search a different stretch of the PMV to give those scenes another try.
Can I search a PMV I found somewhere other than PMVHaven?
Yes. Finding the source videos does not depend on where you saw the PMV, because its frames are matched with the tube videos themselves. Finding the PMV itself only works when that edit is on PMVHaven and in the index.
