Coded releases in the index
Each one is a Japanese release filed under its code, stored as its cover plus eight shots from its hover preview.
Reading a code
What a JAV release code is
Japanese adult videos are catalogued by a release code: a few letters, a dash and a number, such as ABC-123. The letters usually stand for the studio or one of its series, and the number counts the releases in that line. Shops, databases and fan sites all file a video under that code.
That makes the code the real prize of a JAV search. Once you have it, typing it anywhere brings up the video, its details and its other uploads, even when every title around it is in Japanese.
Screenshot to code
How to find a JAV code from a screenshot
Drop the picture
The search measures it against the cover and the eight preview shots stored for each MissAV video, then tests the closest ones for a geometric fit.
Check the proof
A Match puts your frame next to the stored shot it fits, with a score out of 100, so you can see for yourself that it is the same scene.
Read the code
The Match links to the video's MissAV page, and the release code is part of that address. Copy it and you are done.
The address ends in the code written in lower case, so a link ending in abc-123 points to release ABC-123. Some sites print codes without the dash, and that is still the same release.
Best pictures to search
Which JAV screenshots work best
The cover
Every indexed video has its cover stored. A saved cover image, or a screenshot of one on a shop or forum, is the surest search there is.
A preview shot
The eight stored frames come from the hover preview, one per shot across the whole video. A screenshot from any of those shots stands a good chance.
A clip
Up to 48 frames are taken from a clip, from many different moments, so it meets those eight shots far more often than one still does.
Why titles fail
Why JAV is hard to find with words or Google Lens
A JAV title is written in Japanese and translated a different way on each site, when it is translated at all. Screenshots rarely show the code, and reuploads rename the video freely. A text search needs words you simply do not have.
Google Lens hides explicit matches behind SafeSearch. TinEye and Yandex hunt for copies of a picture across ordinary websites. None of them compares your frame with each release's preview shots, or lines up keypoints to confirm the scene.
Gaps and dead ends
If the code does not come up
Some kinds of video are not in this part of the index at all: FC2 PPV releases and Korean or Chinese live recordings. A screenshot from one of those cannot find a code here. A flipped reupload, on the other hand, is handled for you: with no Match, mirror images of your best frames are searched as well.
A studio logo or intro card is a special case. It appears in many videos, so it lands under shared pictures: the videos listed there tell you the studio, not the release. Take a frame from the scene itself. To find other videos of the same actress, the face search compares faces rather than whole frames and shows the names that recur in the titles it finds.
FAQ
Questions
How do I find a JAV code from a screenshot?
Drop the screenshot here. The search lines it up against the cover and preview shots of every indexed MissAV video, and close candidates must pass a keypoint check. A Match links to the video's page, and the release code is part of that link.
What does a JAV code like ABC-123 mean?
The letters usually name the studio or one of its series, and the number is the release within it. It is how a Japanese adult video is filed everywhere, so it is the most useful thing to find.
Why do the Similar results share a code prefix?
Similar results only look alike to the network, and the same studio, set or performer often causes that. Releases from one series share the prefix but are different videos. Only a Match proves which release your screenshot comes from.
Is this a MissAV reverse search?
Yes. The JAV part of the index comes from MissAV: each video is stored as its cover plus eight frames from its hover preview, and a Match opens the video's MissAV page.
Can I search with a JAV cover?
Yes. The cover of every indexed video is stored, so a saved cover or a screenshot of it is one of the most reliable searches you can make.
Are FC2 PPV videos included?
No. FC2 PPV videos are not indexed, and neither are Korean or Chinese live recordings. A screenshot from those will not find a code here.
